Benny Prepaid Benefits Card - FAQs

The Benny™ Card is a special-purpose Visa® Card that gives you an easy way to pay for eligible health care/benefit expenses. The Card lets you electronically access the pre-tax amounts set aside in your employee benefits accounts such as Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) or Health Savings Accounts (HSAs).

The Benny™ Card works like a Visa® Card, with the value of your account(s) contribution stored on it. When you have eligible expenses at a health care provider or pharmacy that accepts Visa debit cards, simply swipe your Benny Card and the amount of the eligible purchases will be deducted – automatically – from your account. The pre-tax dollars will be electronically transferred to the provider/merchant for immediate payment.

REMEMBER TO SAVE ALL OF YOUR RECEIPTS! Purchases may be cashless, but not always paperless. In some cases, you will need to submit your receipts to verify that your expense complies with IRS guidelines.

The chart below shows some of the situations when CHP will contact you to request receipts. Each receipt must show: the retailer or provider name, the service received or the item purchased, the date and the amount of the purchase. If the required documentation is not provided, then your card will be suspended and you may be required to repay the amount in question.
