The position is responsible for taking a lead role in the Underwriting activities of Consolidated Health Plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Math or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5+ years of Underwriting experience, preferably in the health insurance industry.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with demonstrated ability to present complex topics in a clear manner.
Self-starter with an ability to solve problems and handle a fast paced environment.
Demonstrates the ability to work well in teams and form partnerships to complete projects.
Possess a strong attention to detail.
Proficient with MS Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Responsive with the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
Essential job duties and functions include:
Develop renewal quotes for current clients based on experience data.
Develop prospect quotes for potential clients based on experience data.
Archive all approved and delivered correspondence and makes records for future needs.
Create templates for frequently used correspondence subjects, such as inquires and issues or concerns or complaints.
Conceptualize and build various tools to help in the Underwriting process.
Assist in the development of Junior Underwriters’ understanding of underwriting concepts.
Work effectively with our Account Management team to determine deadlines and priorities.
Input renewal and proposal data into the CHP Underwriting Templates.
Maintain positive relationships with both our internal and external partners.
Work effectively with external partners to determine equitable rates for prospect and renewal quotes.
Maintain and foster a commitment to quality.
Assist with responses to RFPs (Request for Proposals).
Assist with special Underwriting projects as necessary.
